On the subject of perseverance, James wrote, “Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy” (James 5:10-11). Though his friends thought Job to be at blame for his suffering, God made it clear that sometimes suffering just happens. Instead of blaming others or blaming God, we should look to God for strength. He will help us to endure.
Our world is presently in a sad state of affairs. The trials of today are too many to name. We scratch our heads and wonder how the world came to be in such shape. Power-hungry world leaders and deranged, angry individuals are taking lives without a thought. Innocent lives are sacrificed on the altar of selfishness and pleasure. The rich get richer and the poor become destitute. The effects of the Fall continue.
Church family, let us be strong. Satan wishes to have another heyday. We can turn the tables on him and show what people of faith can do. Let us make a statement and set an example the world cannot ignore. Please keep the faith and help keep CRCC strong. “May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance” (2 Thess. 3:5).
May God help us to weather the storms that threaten us. Let us persevere.
Stay tuned…
To be a child of God is the greatest privilege we have, but we also have responsibility. May God bless us all as we work with his Spirit to develop the character the Father expects of his children. TC
